DIRECTIONS TO ELEUSIS
Please allow about 2 hours driving
time from the Bay Area.
From 101, take the River Road exit (a few exits
north of Santa Rosa). Take a right at the bottom of the exit onto Mark West
Springs Road. Follow for 10.1 miles. (At 5.4 miles , Mark West
Springs Road becomes Porter Creek Road; no turns are required - just
stay on this same road. Watch speed limits as they will vary.)
Follow until a T-junction. At the junction turn left (at
Petrified
Forest Road) following signs to Calistoga. Follow for 4.5 miles
.
Again follow until a T-junction. Now you are on the outskirts of Calistoga;
there's a gas station on your right. (note: relatively cheap gas!) Turn left
at T-junction (Foothill Blvd). Follow for .8 miles.
Turn right (at Tubbs Lane) where you see the highway sign to
Lakeport/Middletown. Follow for 1.3 miles.
Go past the geyser - on left - then turn left at the stop sign onto
highway 29 towards Lakeport. Follow for 13.6 miles .
Follow this road up the mountain, very steep and curvy
for about half an hour. After the road starts to level out, go past Hildebrand
Road. and watch for a Casino on your left.
Just past the Casino, turn left onto Dry Creek Cutoff
Road.
Follow the road as it takes an immediate right, passing
a vineyard on your left. Follow for .6 miles until the main (paved) road
turns left
(if you start to cross a creekbed, you missed it--go back).
After about .7 miles driving alongside Dry
Creek you should see a road called My Way on your right, where there
is a first bridge. This
is the border of the property. Keep driving along the creek past the
My Way road/bridge.
Drive another .7 miles alongside the creek (
after .4 miles the pavement ends and the last .3 miles the road is
a gravel/dirt surface) and follow the road as it turns right, crossing a bridge
(this is the second bridge on the
right side of the road, not the 'My Way' bridge.) Immediately
aftercrossing the bridge (go slow, there is a very blind curve after
the bridge!) pull over to the right and park in the space in front of the chain
gate.
Walk past the chain and follow the road on foot. Watch for the wood stakes
in the ground with yellow on top marking the way, following them toward the
East (walking back in the opposite direction you just
drove on the last part of the road alongside the creek before crossing the bridge)until
you see my car/tent.
You are here! WELCOME TO THE LAND!
